Love Carob
I love these chips and their powder!! Carob is so much healthier than chocolate, and I am not allowed to have chocolate. These are great! So many recipes on their website and I love baking with them. It's also nice in case my parrot gets ahold of it since it's safe for him too. They arrived in good packaging and in a timely manner too. They used to sell these in a store near me but sadly stopped doing it. I really wish more stores would sell it and people would stop viewing it as only for dogs. It is great for people too and bakes nicely in yummy carob chip cookies or homemade protein bars and much more. I pray they never stop selling it!!

what a treat!!
I had to give up chocolate about 2 yrs ago- impacted my heart rate and rhythm. I don't miss it that much, but this winter I have been craving hot chocolate- and I remembered many years ago I had liked chatfields carob powder. since I haven't even seen it in a lot of years, I doubted the company was still in business - but alas, they are and I ordered the carob powder. while it isn't the perfect hot chocolate, it certainly does it for me, and I am very happy to have my occasional steaming cup of joy. I decided to try the carob chips, and to my absolute delight, they are great!! GREAT!! no bad aftertaste, no caffeine, good texture, its a find for those of us who can't do the real thing, this is not only good enough, its terrific. im pretty sure I could fool anyone into thinking its the real thing. im sooooo happy!

Great Chocolate Substitute
For decades chocolate was my happy place, especially dark chocolate. After meals I didn’t eat desserts or cookies or cakes, just one or two pieces of Dove chocolates. Then I had a year long bout of acid reflux and I had to stop eating chocolate because, unknown to me, chocolate contains a chemical that relaxes the stomach valve. Eating even the tiniest piece of chocolate made me feel like I had been stabbed with a flaming spear. Then I found carob chips, which while not ideal, satisfied my chocolate craving enough to make life bearable again. Highly recommend if you crave a bit of chocolate but can’t have the real deal.

what was sent was not according to description
I ordered this product which was to be unsweetened. When arrived it was in an outer box. Opened the box and four packages were in an inner box that was plastic wrapped. On top was a big sticker label saying unsweetened. Open the inner box took out a package of chips and looked at the package nutrition label and it said 10 grams total sugar, including 10 grams added sugar for 20% DV. The displayed product description on Amazon says nutritional facts 7 grams sugar 0 grams added sugar for 0%. Okay so the product I received is not unsweetened. Also the displayed product does show first ingredient as sugar. I do not think carob originally has sugar value. I could be wrong. Anyway this is a non returnable item. I did a chat with Amazon and they returned my purchase price. Kudos to them. I think they will address this product description issue. It could be I got the wrong product packaged to me. I do not know. Amazon has worked to make it right for this customer as best they can. Just be aware of the product one is ordering.

Disgustingly sweet
Seconding, as of 2018, the reviewer who said the overwhelming taste is of sweetness. I'd be inclined to try what the other reviewer said of mixing these half and half with the unsweetened Sunspire chips (the ones that apparently don't melt properly), but even one of these Chatfield chips is an unpleasant sugar bomb. (And yes, as of 2018, the first ingredient is beet sugar.) Why did they do this? Carob is naturally sweet. Why make it a sugar bomb? Disappointed, especially since Chatfield makes a very nice carob powder. Into the compost bin they go. Yuck.

Great Flavor, if a Bit Sugary
I like rich flavors without too much sweet, and so have been looking for something as an alternative to semisweet or dark chocolates. This is about as close as I've been able to find for carob chips, and it's a great alternative to chocolate with its own rich flavor tones that cacao just doesn't have itself. Wish though that it was a little more on the carob side, and a bit less on the sugar/other additives, as that does appear to affect consistency of the confections I make with it as well as the flavor intensity.

Absolutely wonderful
Are you allergic to chocolate then try this. Once mixed with milk you can make your very own hot cocoa substitute. also a great addition to add to any party for your vegan friends!

Listing doesn’t match actual contents label
As others have mentioned, these are very sweet, as sugar is the first ingredient on the label. However, my main issue is with the details of this product listing on Amazon. There is one photo in the listing — the larger picture of the nutrition label — that indicates its 35 calories per serving (1tbsp) and has 7g of fiber. I admit it’s my fault, I suppose, for not inspecting the other picture with a nutrition label more closely, because these chips have 80 calories for 1tbsp and absolutely no fiber. It’s all sugar. The listing presents misleading information. Additionally, as others have pointed out, the ingredients for these in the listing are different than the actual ingredients on the package.Don’t make the mistake I did and not catch these discrepancies. I’m usually much better at catching those things before I buy. Lesson learned. These don’t taste terrible or anything, but they’re basically just little sugar chips with a bit of carob, and I thought they were at least a bit healthier than they really are. Now I have 4 packages of these things and I don’t know what I’m going to do with them!
