Great Tawa, just go for it.
Great dosa tawa. It was pre seasoned. I just heated it with some oil, let it cool down, wiped it with tissue and it was good to go. Have made dosas on this and they don't stick. The only area of improvement would be the sharp edges. I guess these would smoothen out as we keep using this. The thickness also could be a bit better. But for the price, it's worth it. Go for it.

Works like a charm
Although it is supplied in pre-seasoned condition, we performed seasoning twice (wash gently with liquid detergent, pat dry, heat the pan gently, smear 1 tsp oil all over with a tissue & let it simmer on low heat for 20 minutes, let it cool down to room temp and repeat the process one more time) and dosas turned out super crispy !!! While the consistency of dosa batter is equally important, I guess those who are complaining need to prepare a good batter first and season it as mentioned here to get fantastic results. Excellent value for money !!!

Indus Valley iron tawa
I recently bought an iron dosa tawa in Indus Valley. Weight is ok when compared to cast iron tawa. It is free from toxic chemicals unlike non stick tawas.It does not have raised edges . So it is very easy to make dosa. Maintenance is bit tiring as seasoning is required to prevent rust. Initially, I faced some sticking problems, but improved after seasoning, but it still requires careful attention while cooking as it gets over cooked in the centre. Overall, Indus Valley iron dosa tawa is good , but it requires good maintenance and handling. If you're willing to put in the effort, it can be a great addition to your kitchen.

It's a concave dosa tawa with uneven heat distribution! Read on!!
It's a concave dosa tawa with uneven heat distribution, not because of the manufacturer's fault. But because of the properties of iron. Iron doesn't distribute heat evenly like Aluminium or Indolium tawa. So those complaining about the tawa burning in the middle should understand the same.To overcome this issue, we have been using a steel plate of diameter 4 inches with holes in it. We put that steel plate on the gas stove first and then place the tawa over it. Dosas come beautifully crisp & enriched with iron. Certainly not burning in the middle. If you don't want to use this method, dosas will burn. Else, get a indolium tawa.

Excellent tawa
This concave tawa from indus valley is really good. I just washed the tawa with soap before the first use. It's a pre- seasoned tawa. When I prepared dosa and appam for the first time it came very well without sticking on the tawa. I am happy with this purchase.
