Q: Struggling to make the the weld joints. Seems that the unit won't heat the staples anymore.

When I first got mine I had to take it apart and tighten the wires inside before mine would even heat from new.

Q: why does this shut off after 30 seconds and wont go back on until it cools ?

I have used this tool several times,(following the instructions) I have never had to hold the trigger longer than 12-15 seconds for the formed wire to imbed I the plastic panel.
