Can the be used on clay planters?

I suppose it could be used to preserve the planter but let it dry well before planting so that the.soil does not absorb the product and possibly kill the plants.

Does the clear change the color of wood in the slightest? I have a white wood color so I don't want it hidden w grain or color. Ty!

I used took my indoor small kitchen island cart outside and to protect it I spray painted the Thompson water seal on it. I gave it 3 coats and let it sit in our 100 degree sun. The color never changed.
