I bought this for my son when he started learning the game of chess and for the design that the entire family loves Harry Potter. The details are captured wonderfully. The game is a huge hit on family game nights and has taught my son the game and even plays on a chess team.

I'm very pleased with my purchase of this splendid Harry Potter Chess Set! The pieces are reproduced as the pieces that appear in the "Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone" movie! The pieces are of a soft, yet durable plastic material. While not weighted at the base, the pieces stand well on the board without issue, and I have no reservations that the pieces have been built to last!The chess board is made of a cardboard/paper-based material. While it would be most ideal to have a more sturdier board material used, I do not foresee any problems with wear for quite some time. Besides, considering the manufacturing and licensing of use of the "Harry Potter" brand-name, a different board could easily double the cost of the product. The "marble-look" of the included board does look impressive as is. And, I feel I could always purchase a separate board to suit my liking if I ever wanted.If you like the unique look of the Harry Potter set as I have, you will be very pleased owning this set.

I purchased the chess set for my grandson's 26th birthdày. He loves it. Nothing else to say.

Gift for my grandson. Thought it was quality but was disappointed that the board folded in quarters and the players were plastic. Not as represented.
