Tiny and packs a wallop!
EDIT July 18, 2025: There is no support for USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 on Apple Computers. Windows, etc. yes. Apple's specifications for their Mac models, including those with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, and even the newer M-series chips (M1, M2, M3, M4), typically list support for USB 3.1 Gen 2 (up to 10Gbps) and Thunderbolt/USB4 (up to 40Gbps or higher with Thunderbolt 5). USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, which offers 20Gbps, is largely absent from their official specifications. Apple favored Thunderbolt.EDIT July 11, 2025: I still have high praise for the Crucial SSD external drive. My whole computer network and all attached drives are running cooler and faster. Although all drives [1 internal (the Fusion Drive) and 3 external (including the Crucial SSD)] are connected into the iMac motherboard, the Crucial external SSD is running macOS Sequoia [my boot drive] while the other two external drives [rotational] are being run by macOS Ventura. The synergy between all the drives is all that I could have hoped for. When I get a new iMac [maybe 2027 😂], i’m going to utilize the Crucial which should then be able to approach its full potential of 2,100Mbp/s. Because my 2017 iMac motherboard is only specified for 1,000Mbp/s, the Crucial 2TB SSD has a lot of capacity left to achieve in an updated motherboard.ORIGINAL REVIEW June 27, 2025: I have a 2017 iMac [18,2], which has the dreaded Fusion Drive. I have never hated the 1TB internal Fusion Drive, even now after such a polarizing contrast with the Crucial 2TB external SSD Drive. I still like it, however the comparison is like a night and day difference. The Crucial SSD Drive does everything smoother, more efficiently, and FASTER.I’m still using the iMac Fusion Drive running macOS Ventura, but only as a fallback macOS due to the fact that I’m using Open Core Legacy Patcher [OCLP] on the Crucial SSD running macOS Sequoia. Thus, I boot from the SSD Drive 10-times faster with practically no fan noises or heat issues. And all my apps run perfectly.I wish I had done this sooner.

So far I am happy with this drives performance and capacity.
This is what I expected. It came formatted as EXFAT which is compatible with both IOS and WIN.I reformatted it to APFS for IOS only with no issues. It is a small footprint. The USB cord they supply is about 5 inches long. I can transfer a 17.2 gig video file from my imac to this drive in 12 seconds. My Imac is 5 years old and has a solid state HD. I am using the usb-c port on the back if the imac to connect this drive to it. In the photo you will see I have the drive clamped to my Imac's stand. The stand acts as a heat sink. My goodsync program shows my transfer speeds as 780Megs a second while I was transferring material from the SSD this replaced. If I just copy and paste one file it is over 1200 megs a second. I keep the larger video files I work with on this and work right off this drive while editing. This is very small and portable. If you are doing large data transfers (over 1T at a time) It would be wise to heat sink it as it does get warm.

Amazingly Fast - 8TB!!! 👀
5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! Huge thanks to Crucial, Amazon, Customs, and UPS International for the ⚡️ lightning-fast global shipping—I got this in just 5 days! After researching 8TB SSDs, I nearly went with Samsung’s T5 Evo but found that Crucial (U.S.) had an 8TB version at a great deal! Reviews showed Crucial was faster, and they weren’t wrong! I needed to free up space on my phone, so I backed up my phone's videos (~600gb+) in just 4 hours instead of the estimated 20 hours—perfect timing before the Guns N’ Roses concert! 🎸🤘I noticed that the SSD did get warm, but a small desk fan helped. This SSD is a game-changer—the world’s smallest 8TB external drive, IP65-rated for dust/water, and built to survive a 3m drop. Plus, it comes with a 3-year warranty. Hope it lasts!🤞🙏

Impressive SSD
This is a great drive, and surprisingly small for 8TB. It is working flawlessly for streaming virtual instrument plugins while recording.

So Tiny!!
Incredibly impressed with how small these little guys are. Crucial was recommended to me as the other small drives of equal size and speed keep failing on me. Solid performance. My transfers were quick, I was working with video files. Would definitely buy again!

Very very hot just being connected and with light transfers
Got the 8 TB version. Its very compact and fast but runs too hot at 73C with light transfers. Need to see if this is ok with Crucial. This has to be replacement if this is a defect or refund if they don't address it. Reliability will be a concern at these temperatures.
