Hello nick, i am a soprano sax player, is it good to practice my fingering when i cannot be loud? does it feel similar to a real sax? thanks

There are few shortcomings for a sax player looking for fingering to be accuarate,but for a novice this and the Akai ewi provide another option to making sounds via breath also the multiple sound paths that become available synths,piano ,strings,horns ,make this a great music making tool as well as the ability to mute sound to headphones ,so that is the trade off as this is a multi voice instrument not just an electronic sax.

Hi should be loud enough for a small group sax voices are not wonderful although my version is the roland go the AE10 may have better built in sax voices if I play to anyone I use synth type sound to get a less artificial sound ,flute and clarinet also not to bad either.These Instruments take of when connected to good software thats when you get lifelike sax ,if I play to anyone I use laptop good software and connect external speaker.

I am missing my right index finger and am wondering if this is something I can use. I have previous saxophone experience.

I'm really sorry to tell you this, but no, it wouldn't be suitable. You need all four fingers on both hands to control the notes. I can't see any way around this. I'm not being funny, but you could probably do it on a penny whistle which only uses 3 fingers on each hand. It might be awkward to begin with, but you might be able to use the lower 3 fingers on your right hand. (It's usual to use the upper 3 fingers and not use the little fingers at all.) I really hope you find something suitable.
