UPDATE: I noticed two bad things about this product, so here is my updated review.(1) Even though the vendor says EVERYWHERE this cleaver uses steel level 40, the cleaver itself says 30, which not only is a lower quality steel but also, and more importantly, is NOT what was advertised.(2) After only 3 uses on vegetables (onions and leafy greens, no meat nor small bones), the sharpness decreased substantially.As I am no longer satisfied with, I am returning this product.I like this versatile cleaver. The price is excellent and it is very light. I have tried the slicer portion (upper 2/3 of the blade) and it is sharp and easy to use. I have yet to try the small bone chopper (bottom 1/3 of the blade). The shiny pattern seen on the vendor’s pictures is not as shiny nor as well defined on the actual cleaver, which is fine by me as I didn’t buy it for how it looks. The handle allows for a comfortable grip. I am very curious about how long the cleaver will maintain its sharpness considering this is a low carbon material (only “30” which is the second lowest concentration available among the Shibazi cleavers). Right now I don’t think it will last too long but it should be very simple to sharpen it. I’ll try to update this review when the time comes. For now I am a very customer.

Full disclosure, I’m sort of new to cooking. While I’ve been cooking me entire adult life ( I’m 43 ) just bland normal recipes with subpar utensils and tolls, thanks to social media I’ve found a new love of cooking and doing new recipes and have been trying to slowly build up my own “ tools” such as better pots , pans , knives and such. So I really wouldn’t know a really great knife , the only thing I know is if it’s sharp and this one is very sharp and fits Nicely in my hand( even with it being the biggest one I’ve ever seen :) ) The only thing I don’t like is that they put 3 stickers on the knife itself and they left the sticker mess behind when you try to remove it. It came in a very sturdy box that could have placed the stickers on.

Super sharp!! Mine didn't have an edge protector on it so when I took it out of the box it was bam there's the blade. This clever is not heavy and feels great in your hand.
