No regrets
Possibly like many I deliberated for some time before buying a renewed machine. The one I purchased was from Hardware Associates. I don't normally write reviews, but given the 'renewed' aspect, and the fact that this is still a lot of money, whatever the cost of the new item, I thought I'd share some thoughts . . .My machine arrived virtually next day and was very well packaged. The box said 'documents enclosed' and there weren't any - so I need to follow that up, but that's a minor issue. The box is literally the PC, a power cable and a box containing keyboard and mouse. There were no set up instructions at all - not sure if I should have had them or not, and so it was with some trepidation that I began to switch things on and set up. Like many, I use IT a lot, but have very limited tech knowledge. The computer looks immaculate, and was safely packaged. All switched on OK. I had some difficulty with the mouse and keyboard as the bluetooth dongle (?) that fits Into the computer's USB port appeared to be missing. I needed my Apple ID to get started - but couldn't type anything in. Quite by chance I found the bluetooth dongle located within the battery compartment of the keyboard. Without any instructions to say it was located there I very nearly resorted to ringing the supplier to report a missing part. Anyway, once that problem was overcome the set up went smoothly. The computer picked up the mouse and keyboard, everything seemed to (and still seems to) work very well. In that sense this does exactly what I wanted it to do.A couple of issues - one I anticipated and one I didn't. First, the keyboard is poor and the mouse is beyond poor. Unbelievably poor quality (the keyboard may be just about OK) but I expected that, having read reviews. I already own a Mac mouse and expected to buy a better keyboard. You are paying for the computer - the keyboard and mouse are just there because the computer won't work without them, but not sure anyone using an Apple PC would then be happy using the keyboard and mouse supplied. But I have no quibbles with that, it is what I expected and if you get better (I sense it is a lottery) then consider it a bonus.Second issue emerged when I tried ro download my employer's version of Office 365 which has a licence for home use by staff and students. I was told the Operating System was out of date and therefore I could not download Office Applications to my desktop. This threatened to be a deal breaker (its the software I'm using 95% of the time and although I could access the online versions of Word etc, I don't like them) but I contacted IT support at work and I found out I can access/download earlier versions of Office 365, which I did with ease. So I now have Office 365 on my PC - not my employer's state of the art version, but more than good enough for me.To be honest, the age of the operating system has been the key issue - and one I did not anticipate. As indicated I can't access the latest version of Office 365, and I also had some problems downloading Lightroom and Photoshop with some versions not available. It also emerged as a problem when I looked at upgrading the keyboard with a large number of options indicating they required OS 10.14 or later (and my computer has 10.13.5 - I never paid any attention to these numbers before). It means I have spent more upgrading my keyboard than I planned (bought a Mac brand one) but, for me, the software issues have been minor niggles not deal breakers. I can access all the software I want and I don't feel the need for the very latest versions of this or that. Office 365 and Lightroom etc can already do more than I will learn in however long I'm using these things. So . . . the OS is clearly an issue, and one you need to consider, but if you're at all like me, it is largely a non-issue.I bought this because I love Mac computers (have used a MacBook for years) and I wanted a proper desktop, big screen and a really substantial hard drive (1Tb) for photo storage. I didn't want them enough to spend very large sums of money, and this does a job for me. The machine is in excellent condition, works perfectly and is at least as good as I was hoping for. The reviews indicate there will always be some element of pot luck in these purchases, but the returns policy encouraged me to take the risk and I am not disappointed. On the contrary, I am more than happy. Hope this helps.

Amazing Value and Excellent Performance
I wanted a refurbed MAC to be used as a test machine. I didn't want anything new or expensive just a bog standard MAC. I Did some research and settled for this and within a couple of days it was on my worktop and fully working. For a machine that's almost 10 years old you would be hard pushed to know it was a refurb. But there were some very minor scratches on the stand directly behind the monitor. But apart from that everything was clean and scratch-free.The machine came with a wireless keyboard, mouse and USB dongle. Okay, so they're not genuine Apple products but both mouse and keyboard were responsive and pretty good quality.Back to the MAC and I was surprised to find it had 16GB of RAM rather than the expected 8. Moreover, the OS had been upgraded to the base version of Catalina rather than the default High Sierra. Therefore it didn't take long to update the OS to Catalina 10.15.7. (it might be possible to upgrade to Sur, but it will be a faff and high risk)It came with the expected 1TB drive and a fast 2.7GHz quad-core processor (i5 class). The 21.5" screen is excellent and the colour resolution superb.I haven't gone through all the installed apps because its only going to be used for beta-testing. Nevertheless this is an excellent machine, and to have 16GB of RAM was a bonus.Big shout out to supplier "Renewed Store" - great packaging, fast delivery and a good quality refurbed MAC. And all for £225. Bargain!

The owners ignored me, it’s a bad product
I bought this under after watching an Amazon ad on these new refurbished product. They showed it as better for the planet. I have come up with so many issues, the system is not updated and it is hard to update it. I cannot use any word documents or anything else, the screen freezes and the system is always down. Many times in the day I have to restart it. The screen blocks up and the sound keeps playing. The owners who have sold this have ignored me. They said that this system does not have a barcode and therefore cannot be returned to Amazon. Do not trust Amazon or this provider. You will be disappointed and will be wasting your time and only. I paid £225. And I regret paying it. It’s worthless junk. And I should have brought a monitor instead. I’m embarrassed since Amazon has been rejecting my calls 4-6 times. In addition, the owners do not answer the emails after I said I would return the IMac in the same condition. I just wanted my money back.Still till this day I haven’t had a reply. This is a warning to all customers that they are not a reliable provider. They may be under Amazon Renewed by they are a terrible reseller.I have cried many tears and nights because of this issue. My bank could not be of help either and so I’m stuck with a worthless item that doesn’t update, that can’t use other providers and now I can’t use it to write. I feel embarrassed to tell my family this as I feel like they would criticise my choice. As I was so at ease with Amazon, being an Amazon customer for so many years but being denied a chance to return this item back 2 days after receiving it. Amazon customer team has been mean and discouraging and disrespectful as 3 of their employees disconnected the call.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. It is not worth your time and money and do not buy any refurbished items on Amazon. Larger items like these are not covered for returns (which is stupid) as it’s so easy to buy the product. This product has not explained that but just note POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, owners don’t answer or respond or want to return the products, BAD AMAZON REFURBISHED item as it can’t update and it was not described properly or provided in details. DO NOT BUY this product unless you want to waste 200-150£ on it.
