If a bar has this, you have at least one, very good dram on offer!
Balvenie is a well renowned whisky brand, not quite as famous as Macallan perhaps, but in roughly the same league. That high perch come at a price, and that is that the prestige the brand has gained has often made it the target to be overtly criticized. This often pushes experts to overly criticize the brand - 'it's not as good as it should be' etc.I find this very misplaced in this particular case. It often retails close to £40, and that to me, isn't too ridiculous. You get a lot of whisky for your buck. Great aroma and bags of taste. Pleasant, smooth and vanilla sweet, a great all rounder, and a perfect gift for a beginner / a whisky curious person. I've had several bottles of this and will have more. If you find this in any bar, you should be glad!

Quite Nice
I've recently began to collect whiskys and have added this to my collection due to the high rating on here. The rating is marginally less than something like Ardbeg or Laphroaig however I definitely prefer the smoother more refined taste of this whisky than either of those two. (Laphroaig I like, however Ardbeg is something else and far too extreme for me). This has an initially nice soft sherry taste and has a smell a bit like plum. I'm not the type that will go into obnoxious descriptions as some do but it has a nice complicated taste with a mild fairly smokey aftertaste afterwards. There is only the most mild of peat taste to this but it's all it needs really. Overall it has quite a nuanced character.Definitely one of my favourites now.For people who complain about the price, you used to be able to buy bottles of 70ml Dalmore 12 year old and even their Cigar Malt for $20 dollars in the states. They cranked up their price almost triple what it was in 10-15 years. This being £5 more than it was 10 years ago isn't that big of a deal. You're not going to get a very complicated or enjoyable whisky for £20-£30 in most cases.
