TP-Link 𝗧𝗮𝗽𝗼 SolarCam 2K, Outdoor Battery Camera w/Solar Panel Base, Wireless Camera, 2K QHD, 150° Super-Wide FOV, Free Person/Vehicle/Pet Detection, SD/Cloud Storage, Starlight Color Night Vision

I’ve got this camera installed at a remote off-grid cabin to help me monitor the property. I did need to buy an extra extension USB-C cable to be able to get the solar panel in the right spot for full sun from where the camera needed to be for the best monitoring angle. The included cable is about 6’ - I just needed to go a little further and around some odd architectural angles. It’s worked great since I installed it about 4 months ago. The premium Tapo cloud service is convenient and would probably be worth the money if I was monitoring a busier location or multiple angles, but for now the free service provided what I need. The connection to my WiFi router — about 20-30 feet away, across an open porch area and behind a thin (un-insulated) exterior wall — is stable and reliable. The picture and sound are clear. Sometimes I just have the app open to listen to the birdsong.It also like that it has several privacy features so that when I have friends or family staying there I can keep an eye on the property without feeling like I’m lurking or them having to worry about being able to see the common areas. For instance, I’ve got it angled so I can see the driveway and front steps, but then I’ve blocked off an area of the raised deck that would otherwise be in frame.Having the ability to do two way conversations is also convenient if someone is having trouble getting into the house or when we have maintenance and service crews who need access to the house.I’m planning on buying a couple more for this and other properties. It seems like the app will handle that scenario well.

A seriously good unit; easy to set up, great functionality, and the solar panel means it stays almost 100% charged all the time. Great image quality during the day, and really amazing night vision. I'm impressed.

I gave 1 star because of the service and customer care. The cameras worked well for the trial period, i had even ordered some for my home as well. I ordered the cameras for my mother who has breast cancer and was scheduled for surgery. Did the 30 day trial for cloud service, seemed like it was pretty good so I did the annual subscription for cloud service for her on April 4th because she needed to see the coming and going of the people working to transform her housefor after her surgery. The service did not work, it would give notifications but wouldn't record so she could see who was on her property. Contacted customer care and they couldn't figure it out. I asked for a refund of the $121.89 that I paid the following day so that i could replace them with something that worked for her. they told me that the payment was pending and no other payments would occur. I did not understand the "exta payments" as I'd paid for the year. I sent them documentation that the payment had fully processed and let them know i needed a refund for services I couldn't use and that I would be retuning the cameras. They told me that it was pending and that I needed to wait and they would contact me the next business day, that was Saturday the 5th of April. Monday April 7th I emailed them about the refund as I still couldn't use the services, and they told me it was still pending despite having proof that it was processed. Tuesday they told me that there service is OK and I needed to check it. I was not home as mother was having surgery in a different city. I informed them again that I'd already initiated the return and needed that refund. They informed me that I would not be getting a refund for the annual cloud service because now the service is working despite not using it. This is the worst experience for my mother who I informed them of why I purchased them for her in the first place (elderly disabled with breast cancer). I paid for a service that they did not produce when I needed it and now I am out of $121.89 because they said they are keeping my money. I waited to give my review to see if they would rectify the issue, they only made the experience worse.

Llegó muy bien embalada, y recién acabo de instalarla. Muy fácil e intuitiva la instalación y configuración, como así también muy buena imagen. Tal vez un poco lenta en reaccionar ante un evento, pero co for.e con el producto

I have two of these. Just installed the second one but the first one has been running about 5 weeks. The solar panel is mounted on the west wall of the house about 8 feet up on a two story house, so it doesn’t get any direct sunlight until late afternoon, but it keeps the camera charged at 100% all the time. The detection works almost perfectly for persons, but once it thought that a cat was a person. I turned down the sensitivity and it hasn’t happened again. I like that I can specify the detection zones for the area I’m interested in and you can put it to sleep when the lawn guys are here.
