Q: Does the USB cord plug directly into the light?

These answers are all over the place. Here's how the Streamlight 88085 works: First, you don't have to buy or use the rechargeable battery at all. It will operate on two CR123A batteries. If you do buy the rechargeable Streamlight 18650 battery with the light, the battery itself has a port that requires a USB micro-B plug. The other end of that cable can plug into any charging source (e.g. computer USB port, plug-in charger with a USB connection) to charge the battery. The battery must be removed from the flashlight to charge it. This procedure is for the STREAMLIGHT battery only. I don't have any experience with other brands of 18650 batteries. Q: Anyone have this mounted on a rifle experience issues flickering/turning off due to recoil?

I have not experienced any flickering under recoil. I also own a surefire scout mounted on another AR15. You’re getting the same performance for less.

Q: Am i getting a protac 2l-x, or an hl-x usb? the title says one thing, but the description says another.

No, just CR 123. I use rechargeable ones (3.7V) in mine with good results.
