I installed new ceiling fans with light kits in a couple of bedrooms. However, my new ceiling fans w/ lights are controlled by a remote control, which seems great, until you realize that people tend to use remotes and leave them in random places with no rhyme or reason as to where. When it's dark, the problem gets even worse, since, without the remote, you can't turn on the light to look for the remote. I decided I needed a light I could easily mount and be controlled by a wall switch. This wall sconce seemed to fulfill all my needs. I was able to mount this wall sconce just above my existing wall switch and by mounting it a few feet higher than the switch, I was able to easily tie into the existing wiring and fish it up to the wall sconce without having to get into the attic. Now I will have a fixed light source that I can always turn on regardless of where the remote is. This is a beautiful wall sconce and It can be mounted right side up or upside down, so it has good flexibility. It also has a frosted and clear "globe" so the light blubs are obscured from view and the light gets diffused around the room. Reasonably priced with very good build quality. I bought 2 sets. The installation instructions were not easy for me to read but once I figured out the pieces it went well and was a lot quicker with the second set. Using them with a dimmable switch, they look great. Pleased with the purchase and looking forward to enjoying them.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Good looking item. Well made. Engineering goof. Reasonably priced, I bought 2. I mounted them downward (reversible) and like the look. Downside is assembly of the lamp. They give you like an 8 sided nut tool to fasten the glass shades to the lamp body. On top of this nut goes a flange shaped washer that DOESN'T INTERLOCK with the nut so it's sheer balance to slide both up to attach the glass shades to the lamp. I finally put 2 small pieces of 2 sided electric tape to hold the assembly the flange/ washer in place while assembling. They could have engineered the 2 pieces to mate for ease of installation; they didn't. But I really like the look!

What a fantastic update to my old ulgy wall lights! These were easy to install and the light allow for a variety of bulb sizes. Light can be mounted up or down. Love them.
