NexLand CK1 Folding Ceramic Razor Blade, Micro EDC Escape Knife Survival Tool

I use these Ceramic Micro Knife/Strikers primarily as a striker/scraper for mini or toggle Ferrocerium rods, both sometimes mounted on a keyring of some sort, usually a Nite Ize #1 G-Biner, or simply strung on a cord as a break-away necklace along with a microlight and mini whistle. This Nexland micro knife comes with a small key chain loop. Sometimes I use that to attach the micro knife, other times I use a small, thin split ring. The Micro Knife does has neither a spring nor lock, but is retained in its handle both by the pressure of the rivet mounting the blade in the handle and by a supplied O-Ring that is placed around the closed knife to assure it stays closed (I have not found the blade to be 'loose' on any of the many I have purchased - the O-Ring appears to be a good safety measure, and I keep it).The Micro Knife is opened by simply rolling the O-Ring off the knife, pinching the spine of the blade at the adequate cut out area on both sides of the handle, and simply lifting it up and fully open. The blade is a sheepsfoot style (end of the blade curves down to the cutting edge without a point). The cutting edge is a single sided bevel, and is adequately sharp. The spine of the blade is an aggressive right angle, perfect for scraping materials and throwing sparks from a ferrocerium rod.To use the micro knife as a ferro rod striker (scraper), just roll the O-Ring back enough so the spine is fully revealed at the handle cut-away area. Don't open the blade - ceramic is a very hard material, and this thin blade should NOT be flexed. Strike (scrape) the ferrocerium rod with the spine of the blade at the handle cut-away, and this will cause a shower of hot sparks.Very useful item for pocket lanyard or break-away necklace carry of emergency items in the wilderness. For example, think about a necklace made from a cord containing flammable material (available on-line) with break-away fasteners, strung with ceramic micro knife, toggle-style mini ferrocerium rod, mini whistle, microlight, small capsule with a fire starter (e.g., Epiphany Outdoor Fire Fuse or simply Fatwood).Recommended.

I really love these little knives and have nothing negative to say about them so far. They cut like a champ and strike a Ferro Rod better than anything I've used before that's not a huge piece of bar stock. I've not broken one yet, so they seem durable. For the price, I've going to keep a supply on hand as they are perfect for keychains.

I had really bad knees replaced and some other issues and now walk almost daily in a rugged park and often in the SC mountains (we have a few) I wanted the ability to start a fire to keep warm or signal with should the need ever arise and came up with this combo on a piece of very thing para cord left over from teaching my nieces to make bracelets. I can quickly start a little fire with the "knife" and rod with no problem (I have practiced it and was an Army officer/ Scoutmaster so I have had a little opportunity to use the skills). Blade is very sharp but you won't be able to fight off a caterpillar with it. The design is a little flimsy but for what I want, it works. I use the blade closed in the handle when striking the ferro rod, the "thumb groves" are perfectly sized to allow for it. The blade will cut, within reason, anything I can for see in a short-term survival situation (cordage, clothing, containers) Whole set up weighs slightly more than my dog tags with a p-38 did and is a whole lot more useful.

Absolutely amazing product for my use. THE best scrapper I have ever used. If they were about 20% larger... would be perfect. Great product.

I bought these ceramic "blades" to pair with some ferro rods & knife kits. These really perform more than expected, and are far superior to just ceramic scrapers. Well protected in a plastic sleeve, the knife is sharp enough to cut deep if mishandled, and the cutout part of the sleeve exposes enough ceramic to spark your ferro rods. Like I already wrote, these perform better than ceramic scrapers, BUT the only negative is that the hole is too small to run paracord through, so you'll have to use the chain thoughfully included.

Will cut just about anything worth cutting...

I bought this to go with a small and lightweight ferro rod. It really can throw some sparks.
