Simple to use
If your kids love creating art, they'll definitely appreciate the chance to play with this set as it requires quite a unique way of painting. Besides, you don't need much skill to create a nice work of art with it. The set contains plenty of different colours and a special powder that should be mixed with water 4 hours before starting the actual activity. Due to this passage of time, I do it in the morning, agreeing with my daughter whether she would like to play with it in the afternoon, so that I can make all the necessary preparations (mixing the powder with water). The instructions provided clearly describe how to work with the kit. I wish there was more of this special powder that prepares the water to absorb the paints later, it will be a limiting factor in how many times you can actually use this kit.Overall, this is a great idea to try something different and stimulate children's creativity.

Love this
My kids loves doing marble painting. I must say that I do too. Find it really relaxing and this is our fifth kit. I like to use thicker paper and frame some our best creations. This have great colour collection and lasts few times before empty.

Good fun but needs practice
I enjoyed this marbling kit but definitely need to practice! The kit requires advance preparation. After pouring 250ml of water into the tray and stirring in 1 tbsp of carrageenan powder (it looks lumpy but apparently this is ok) a wait of 4-6 hours is needed before the next step.I then added a few drops of green paint, allowed it to settle/spread then did the same with blue followed by purple. I gently pulled the drawing needle through the gelatinous paint mixture to create some sort of pattern.Lastly I rested a sheet of paper on top for about 5 seconds, pressing gently with the scraper, then lifted it off with the needle. The end result was ok (it was my first attempt!) but I think I need to practice with the pattern making. The instructions provided could be clearer, especially for children to use. Everything is provided but the small pot of carrageenan powder is not going to last long. It’s a fun activity for a rainy day, the box says it’s suitable for ages 3+ but I would recommend at least 5+.

Too much effort required in my opinion
This is a nice kit if you are looking for such a kit - the paper provided is of good quality and the paint colours are great - very vibrant. However, having never encountered this type of painting before I'm afraid I won't be bothering with it again - it takes too much effort from my point of view. It's not an activity like ordinary painting that your kids can decide they want to do at a moment's notice and can then be left to get on with it on their own. This requires the base used for painting on to be prepared at least 3 hours in advance so definitely cannot be a spur of the moment activity. Additionally, kids of under about 10, I would say, cannot be allowed to get on with it on their own as, in my experience, they need help to put the paper onto the picture after they have painted it in the water in order to transfer it to the paper. At the end of the day it just produces a painting, which they could quite easily have made using normal paint and paper. A further issue is that only one tray is provided so if you have two kids that normally paint at the same time you really have to buy another tray.
