Really good. Better that I had hoped!
First off, this is not a paid review and I've been playing guitar for nearly 20 years. I've been in bands and produce music at home.I've also never left a review on amazon before, if that means anything to you! This is a fantastic bit of kit!I've had some experience with amp sims/ modelers/ plugins over the years - some of which have been good but others, thoroughly underwhelming. The latter has not been my experience with the Matribox 2 pro.The tones you can get out of this unit are amazing!Fantastic customisation options, including totally assignable, colour coded witches for each preset! After using this unit for some time you'll probably agree that the people that designed this unit have clearly been very thoughtful and intentional. It has a totally solid construction which also houses a totally functional looper, drum machine, tuner, auxiliary input and headphones slot. Not to mention the touchscreen works very smoothly. With all that, this unit is a total winner.I'm completely blown away at what you can get for your money these days. For the price I paid through an Amazon promotional deal (~£220) I can't imagine there's anything that could compete with this in terms of value.I will buy from Sonicake again.

Brilliant piece of kit
You get a lot for your money with this pedal. Yes, most of the patches could be better but; that's what the software is for to alter the patches or create new ones to your liking which is easilly done. Nice and solid build.

Superb Sound quality.
Great unit. No reason why everybody, irrespective of ability could be really thrilled with this unit for the cost. I always find Multi FX units a bit daunting as a pedal board is so much easier. Half an hour playing around with I soon got the hang of it. Great functionality with ins/outs. The looper is quite basic but easy to attach a small ditto.......you can change to a different settings for soloing then. (I will look further into this but I think the looper response changes even you change patch on playback)

A clear bargain.
I love the build. It's a right chunk. The menus take some getting into discard the tiny paper slip instructions in the box and download the manual from the Sonicake site. The plexi's are quite good but overall some of the tones can be a little muffled and you would benefit by adding an EQ.

Easy to use at a basic level, plenty of features to learn, well priced
The media could not be loaded. I've been playing the guitar for ten years or so but started late in life and am barely beyond beginner. I tend to primarily reply on my voice to entertain, but do enjoy using electronics to try and enhance the sound coming from my guitar. I only play electro-acoustic so was unsure how well this effects pedal would work, but for the most part it was fine. This has a wide range of built in sounds available and is relatively easy to use in a basic form, though downloading and reading the user manual is a good idea to get to grips with many of the features. For example, getting into the drum menu requires a long hold of the drum button, just pressing it starts or stops the current selected rhythm. And pressing A and B foot pedals enters the tuner. All useful to know but only really gleaned from watching Youtube videos or reading the manual. There are lots of editable settings and multiple spare slots for creating customised sounds. After about half an hour of playing I was confident enough to use it at a basic level with reasonable confidence, and will try and get to grips with some of the more advanced features over the coming months.Build quality is excellent, it's housed in a robust metal body (the original version was plastic) and there are lots of connections available, including midi, although these are 1/8" sockets rather than the multipin versions. It has no power switch, so a switchable socket is required, or the power lead has to be removed from the back of the device. When powering back on it returns to the last settings used, a nice touch. The drum machine is one of the weaker features, but still adequate for the average solo performance. I'm yet to play with the looper function, though already having two loopers I doubt this will be difficult to master. What I really like about a unit like this, is that it can make even a relatively novice guitar player, like me, sound reasonably competent. I found I was using the softer sound effects for most of my practice, though there are plenty of heavier effects on offer.A minor point to note is that some of the effects were pretty quiet when used on default settings with an electro-acoustic guitar, and I had to ramp up the levels to get them to an appropriate volume. Better to adjust the individual levels rather than the master volume though, as switching to a heavy effect might result in seriously blasted ear drums. This seems to be effectively be a competitively priced version of some of the slightly more advanced and expensive multi-effects pedals on the marker, but with many of the same capabilities. It's under half the price of the marginally higher spec Bose equivalent, though that has a touch screen.Overall a great addition to my guitar setup.

Awesome compact pedal, large screen, great sounds
At the time of this review this pedal is £169.20 .... considering the last pedal i bought was nearer the £650 mark i wasnt sure how this would compare.I have to say how pleasantly surprised i was.The major downside to this pedal is the lack of a hard copy manual.... this is available online as a downloadable pdf but i would have preferred a hard copy. That being said i have to say i am very pleased with this pedal.... much more compact than my usual gigging one but the big colour screen is so much better.... so much easier to read under all the stage lighting.ive only used a few of the standard presets live so far as a test but will hopefully have it set up for a full gig soon.I did run through the presets with headphones and was very pleased with what they had to offer as standard sounds and modelled amps. For the price, the quality of both the build and the sounds it gives out and above all that lovely large screen (aging eyesight) i have to say this is a great unit ..... a definite recommended buy .... +++AAA
