No substitute for safety. Buy this one or another one for your child. I'm writing this review over six months after purchase. He's been wearing it since last year, a bunt yesterday was the first time he 'used it' meaning he took a foul tip to the throat yesterday. He thanked me after the game. Worth every penny!

Straps that hold the neck guard to the mask were substandard and would cause the neck guard to consistently fall loose and thus the neck guard would detach from the catcher’s mask.
