Cute and Functional Dog House
This dog house by Pawhut is perfect for dogs less than 60lbs. The house is shipped in two separate boxes and comes with all the hardware and instructions to put it together. Installation is very straightforward and it took me about 30 minutes to put together. The dog house is decent size and has two entrances. One being through the patio into the main part of the dog house. One wall section was damaged but I was able to fix it with some wood glue and a clamp. The broken part is hidden from view anyway. The roof is plywood with a composite, asphalt coated roof shingles. I noticed that one of the roof shingles had a hole in it and the shingles are delaminating from the plywood. This happened within 72 hours of receiving the product. With a price of over $300.00 I would expect better quality. The dog house was in the rain one night and it did not leak. I would recommend making sure the roof cap is centered when screwing it in. Enjoy!

2 year update
STILL HOLDING UP STRONG!I went ahead and used Henry’s waterproofing around where the roof meets the sides. Also covered all the screws on the roof with it. Highly recommend so this thing last a long time and does not get water damage.

Find something better
This thing looks nice, but feels like it is made of balsa wood. I cracked it when moving it. The paint is more of a stain, you can see the wood grain. Quality is worth about $50.

So cute!
This doghouse is so cute. My husband said it was very easy assembly and had it put together in no time. Perfect size.

Just okay
While it is quick and easy to assemble, the pics make it look much better quality than it is. Wood is cheap and it's barely primed. Highly recommend painting it. For the price, I'm pretty disappointed but it's together and the dogs are already enjoying it.

Read on!! Advise to Love this lil house!
So I bought this adorable dog house a few months back to attach the side opening of it flush to the side of my house where the doggie door exits from inside my house. It’s pretty much one of the only ones that I could find with two openings on the right side that would work.I wanted to wait and post my review to see how it weathered rain and heat in Southern California. If you can’t build your own, It’s a great starter house and with some minor alterations it will last awhile. So, after reading the reviews, I did do some prep on it. I painted it with some outdoor Behr prime and paint to match my house and then I even sealed it too with paint sealer. I elevated it because I do have a small Dog Rescue here and I knew that they would pee on the corners and I didn’t want the legs soaking in dog pee so I bought furniture lifters with an open side that drains so I could wash it off with a hose and the water would not sit at the bottom of the leg. And I did put metal zip ties around the leg so they would not split.I also bought a cheap fur washable area rug something like you would put in your kids room and cut it. I put a piece inside and outside in the winter with a wool blanket underneath inside, and in the summer I have a regular area rug that fits inside.I bought plastic doggie door replacement flaps that were on a roll and cut them for the door that exits from the Doggy door patio and also for the window on the back wall, and hung them the inside. I lift the window flap in summer tucking the window flap up under the roof for ventilation for the winter both are down. It’s funny the dogs like to bring their balls and toys inside the doggie house and leave them there for safe keeping lol. They do hang out on the patio of the house and inside sometimes when they need their space (or wanna hide from me!)It has rained a few times quite hard, with wind and observed the patio still does get wet. So, if you live in a heavy rain area, just to protect it, I would suggest putting up a piece of plywood on the sides to protect the patio from getting soaked and possibly the wood swelling or coming apart at the staples/nails because the whole house, but especially the patio is not a heavy wood product, the railing on the patio is held together with Staples! I would definitely seal it with some kind of paint and or sealer. But I think It turned out really cute, everybody thought it was a great idea using as an exit to my house doggie door! It helps keep the flies out. It does help prevent the dogs from going out when it’s raining and coming into the house and shaking, so they shake their water off on their porch and their paws in the meantime get soaked up on the carpet instead of coming into the house, soaking wet…The only other thing I would’ve liked to have seen is the roof extended out from the patio further than just a couple inches because the water still drips and hits the patio, especially if there’s any kind of wind. I actually might put a piece of paneling that extends the roof so the rain water drips further from the patio. And it seems like the roof kind of warped in the center. I think it needs stabilizing 1”x at the center entry of the patio, (which could be a potential danger for dogs) or a straight piece of bracket or wood that goes across on the bottom side of the roof to prevent warping? It is NOT insulated! and although it is shelter from the elements (until it falls apart), the wood is not thick enough to leave any pet outside in freezing weather temps without a heating pad and closing off the window and the doorways!! North eastern states dogs would still be at risk for freezing to death, especially small dogs! 🐶I suppose you could insulate it, blankets and dog beds, as well by stapling some type of fabric - a moving blanket or maybe even drywall inside. I guess…? But I would never leave my dogs outside in weather anyway.! Dogs are family, otherwise why have one! Also, if you have a a dog that is destructive or likes to chew, I cannot see where this house would survive very long! but I would say it’s worth the money for others. It wasn’t that expensive and if it lasts a few years I got my moneys worth. Two huge boxes are delivered, definitely need two people to move the boxes, It was easy to assemble, any woman with half a brain could easily assemble the doghouse. NOTE: Make sure you put the floors in the right place, inside vs. outside as they look the same size, but They’re different!!. That was the only boo-boo I made…. But I fixed it with a piece of carpet to tile trim! 😁Good luck! 🍀🤞And please, spay/neuter your pets! AND, be the human that your dog believes you are.!! ☮️
