Q: What is the diameter of the base? I assume 21" is the top of the machine diameter

Q: If the cord is only 24" long, can I use an extension cord if I want to place this on my coffee table?

The cord is way longer than 24". Must be 5-6 feet. Long enough for me place the drift on a coffee table and run the cord under the rug the table is on (via poking a hole in the rug) to a nearby outlet. There's also no reason not to use an extension cord is needed.
