All good in the end!
I'm exhausted but we finally have a very nice bed. I got fed up of reading reviews for countless loft beds and eventually decided to take a calculated risk with this one because more recent reviews were more positive. So here the story starts! This bed was delivered in a very timely manner, quicker than I was expecting it by a few days. I was kept updated all the time. A day before the delivery I received a delivery notice with my details on and the procedures I had to follow. You are left in NO doubt that if your details on Amazon are incorrect then it's TOO late to change them with the company, so if this is the case you will not be updated about your delivery. You are instructed to check how many parcels you are expecting and check the parcels that arrive have your details on them and whether you should except the parcels. My delivery did indeed arrive in the expected time slot and both labelled for myself. I was VERY surprised to HAVE to sign for my delivery on a console with the current restrictions of the pandemic, luckily I had hand gel to hand with having to handle the device and the driver not wearing a mask or taking any other precautions.I checked all the contents of both boxes, which was a little challenging because one box should have contained 12 pieces but only had 10, so with most of the pieces NOT being labelled, you had to guess which was which part. 1 piece had a label but this was on the incorrect piece. Once I had worked this out I could find which pieces were missing. So I emailed the company about the missing parts. My email was answered in 4 minutes! Wow, Claire apologized for the inconvenience and had already organised the missing parts to be delivered the next day by Royal Mail.I decided to continue to take my son's old midsleeper bed down so I could give his room a quick freshen up and a new coat of paint. 9am the following morning the missing parts arrived.Commencement of the build, unfortunately I was looking at the corner posts of the first headboard section and had a suspension that they were different sizes, cue the tape measure! Yep, 3 were the same length but the 4th was 50mm too short!Once again I sent an email, this time it was answered in 40 minutes, still impressive time but this time I got a standard response without a name to it advising me to use the parts order page of their website. I had sent the email because after trying to use the part ordering I couldn't see my bed listed, so opted for a corner post from a similar bed, hoping it was the same. But once I entered my details the website recognised my original order and showed my bed, do I could order the correct corner post and delete the incorrect one. While I was online I also ordered an extra connecting screw because one of mine had rounded off before it was fully in place. Yes, you can order extra fittings if you have any issues with them too. They all get sent out for next day delivery, free of charge if ordered before 2pm.Next day my new post and fittings were delivered, slightly after the time slot but the driver did ring me once he was in the area because he couldn't find me, but this was at 17:45. Luckily this post was the correct length. So the next day we FINALLY got to buily sons new bed. The first part and instructions were ok and clear. But after that it got a little confusing because the instructions suggested that the parts were labelled, which they weren't, after reading the instructions several times, I used the fittings instructions from the headboard and the pictures to work out which part went where. After that it was more self explanatory. The slats are indeed a lot wider than other beds, coming up 1 1/2 times wider than our midsleeper. Using a stool I managed to attach all the slats, luckily I had already built the ladder while I was waiting for the post to be delivered so I could attach this to the bed to finish the job off and reach. This bed is sturdy, but does shake a little while my son gets comfy in bed, which is to be expected with such a tall timber bed. The supporting ladder stops any actual rocking, so I feel it's very safe. We haven't had any issues over the last week. The ladder creaks in use, but again expected with being timber. It doesn't move or wobble when in use though, very sturdy and very securely attached to the bed.So my advice is, check the contents of your boxes and measure all your corner posts before building and order any missing or faulty parts. Then you will have a bed that is worth the effort. I would buy another one and recommend them, just do your checks first. I couldn't fault the customer service.

Pine high bed
Great bed, one star off for terrible build instructions, ditch the instructions and use common sense, It's better!! We followed the instructions for putting the two end frames together then when we came to put on the back section that holds the slats it would not go on so eventually after much checking the instructions and why it was different one side to the other, just a swap of the legs and turning one around got it right, then it was ok and straight forward. Some of the bolts were difficult to get in as obviously some pre drilled holes weren't drilled far enough but with a bit of effort we eventually got them in and tightened up well. Took myself and partner about 2 hours to put up. Putting the back sections in (as one panel is just on dowels) was tricky! Whilst I was trying to hold them in place and partner trying to get a screw in the others (don't tighten screws until the 3 are in place) they kept falling out and hitting me in the face. But once you get some screws in each end loosely gripped to secure you can then tighten them all up. The rest was a breeze. I usually tackle stuff alone, even massive slider wardrobes, but I know I would have struggled with this without help!Overall it is a great bed and is sturdy enough to have free standing, my 13 YO who is not exactly small can get up there and move about on it with no apprehension of it collapsing at all. If it is bolted and built as it should be, it doesn't move and a creak I could hear was resolved by tightening one of the bolts that wasn't quite fully tightened. Job done, happy teenager (also can get his gaming desk underneath now giving him lots of space in his gaming room, as it is a small spare bedroom -desk reviewed separately, also great). The natural pine is lovely, we're keeping it like it is and one last note, I hit my head a couple times as it is quite roomy underneath as the bed is highish, but keep forgetting to not try stand up before I get out from underneath.

Very good quality bed but...
You will need to make this with another person if possible. It is very heavy and generally good quality. I had a step with a crack but contacting customer services is extremely easy and a replacement part was sent free of charge and arrived in a few days. The reason for only three stars on how easy it is to build is not because it is difficult but the instruction booklet is very hard to follow and this might be just me but ive built quite a few DIY items. The instruction really could be better but it us easy enough to figure out too i guess. The black screws got me, i thought it was for the piece of wood near the ladder but they are actually for securing 4 of the planks of wood to the middle piece of support wood that runs along the middle of tge bed length wise. Not a big issue though because it doesnt seem to make a difference if you use different screws. It is actually very sturdy and although it is recommended that you secure the bed against the wall or skirting board, i did not feel it was necessary. My daughter absolutely loves her bedroom now and it looks so much bigger. The photo shows part of the room, it is a box room but now a table is under the bed with wardrobe at the foot of the bed abd the other side has book shelves.Very good purchase and extremely practicle.
