My daughter was 4. And I believe this could work for any age. Beware it's cheap. The make-up hardly works, there's only small portions the nail polish turned into plastic and came right off plus the little tiny plastic box it came in was hard to open the drawers. Never the less it had a great wow factor my baby girl loved it. I think she would of loved any makeup kit she idolizes her 14 years old sister. Maybe at $5 I wouldn't be so critical.
