Clairol Shimmer Lights 16 oz. Shampoo + 16 oz. Conditioner For Blonde And Silver Hair (Combo Deal)

Honest opinion - so I have naturally medium-dark brown hair. A few months ago I had it ombré'd (more of a dirty root) so the majority of my hair was a dark yellowy blonde shade. As you know when going from dark to light it's a process and my hair dresser said I would have to come back in a month or so to get it to the colour I wanted (a light ashy, almost White blonde). I have so many different brands of purple shampoo as I really wanted to achieve that ashy blonde without having to pay £70+ again at the hairdressers. However none of them really worked for me until I tried this. I literally couldn't believe the results. My hair went from that crappy yellow/orange blonde to a perfect white ashy blonde. All I do is soak my hair with really warm water in the shower then put the shampoo on for about 5-7 mins, wash out then apply the conditioner for a further 5 mins then wash that out with cold water. I will say though, I do feel this shampoo and the conditioner does dry the hair out but if you like that beachy style texture, it shouldn't really bother you. I suppose you could use some Moroccan oil afterwards. I don't normally write reviews as I can be rather lazy but when I'm really really impressed with a product I have to share it with the world! I wish I knew about this product back when I use to bleach my hair myself and would always end up with that horrible brassy hair aha. Fantastic product, definitely worth the price, incredible results.

Arrived when expected. Good price. I'd read & watched lots of reviews online before buying as I'd never used a "purple" shampoo before. The first time I used it, I left it on for 15 minutes, which is actually longer than the instructions had said, but I was pleased with the outcome as it turned my blonde highlighted hair a lovely white blonde/silver colour. Beware though, the second time I used it, I left it on for half an hour, thinking that I'd be blonder but it turned out a silver grey again but with a very distinct blue/purple colour on the ends! I'm quite adventurous with my hair colour anyway & I had purple streaks in my hair along with the highlights to begin with...so I liked it.!! One thing I don't understand is the negative reviews regarding the smell....yes, it has a strong fragrance but it's a nice "clean soapy" type fragrance that I liked.I can even smell it on my own long hair, until my next hair wash. In fact, I had people asking what perfume I was wearing, because of the clean/fresh smell & I had to admit that it wasn't perfume atall.... it was my hair!!

I noticed that during the summer my silver hair started to have a yellow tinge. I’m still in the transition of going grey gracefully - so the majority of my hair is still dark brown. So I wanted a product that wasn’t aimed at those with a full head of silver or who was blonde. This product had reduced the yellow tinge in just one use (two washes with the shampoo and I left the conditioner in). By the time I use again the yellow will be gone. I defo recommend to those whose hair hasn’t turned fully grey. Only downside was one of the bottles leaked. This was in some of the other reviews I read.

These are vintage products.I used them 27 years ago with such great results that, after using lots of other brands, I decided to come back to them.Nothing changed, except for a few tweaks in the shampoo formula, I get the same results and feelings I had when I first used them :- the shampoo is deep cleansing and now silicone-free, slightly moisturizing (there's no squeaky feeling after rinsing), it lets hair with body and gives a nice pearl hue (neither too blue nor too mauve) to neutralize yellow tones,- the conditioner (original silicone-free formula) is more a toner than a real conditioning treatment (it's not as softening as todays conditioners but the strong point is that it does not make hair limp), boosting and brightening the pearl hue given by the shampoo,- the Shimmer Lights signature fragrance is exactly as it was when the line was launched more than 30 years ago (I remember feeling it strange when I smelt it the very first time, it's neither sweet nor sugary, and yes it smells like old-ladies) and I LOVE that smell, especially as in my mind it is associated with the results.LOVE LOVE LOVE ♥♥♥

It really does what it says, takes away the yellow and makes your hair more ash blonde, but it also made my hair very dry! It says it's supposed to make your hair shiny and manageable and while it does make it shiny I wouldn't call it very manageable since it feels so dry. My hairdresser even noticed and told me to only use it once a week, and that was after just using it twice! Also it doesn't smell nice at all, very chemical and not very fresh! But despite the negativity I must say I do like the color of my hair much more now.

I bought this as I heard Brad Mondo say in one of his vids that this was one of the strongest silver shampoos. He was not wrong! The first wash I left it on for about 3 or 4 minutes. I noticed a difference when I took the towel off my hair, it looked white! When i dried my hair, it was noticeably whiter with most the brassiness gone. I've also tried leaving it in for 20 mins and this works really well too. I love how thick it is. I've used a lot of silver shampoos and some are very watery, like a regular shampoo that is purple in colour but this is a high quality silver shampoo. It truly is the best one I've used. Some people have mentioned it not smells very nice but I think it smells nice. I will try and add some before and after pics at some point.
