Product Description 180 grams audiophile vinyl About the Artist The English shoegaze band Slowdive formed in 1989 and primarily consisted of Nick Chaplin (bass), Rachel Goswell (vocals, guitar), Christian Savill (guitar) and the band's primary songwriter Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar). Souvlaki is Slowdive's second studio album, originally released in 1993. The album contains synthesizer contributions from Brian Eno on 'Sing' (which he co-wrote) and 'Here She Comes'. The band named the album after a skit performed by the Jerky Boys, an American comedy duo that recorded prank phone calls. Music on Vinyl now re-releases this classic album on 180-grams audiophile vinyl

brilliant shoegaze
great seminal shoegaze album, I bought some 2CD edition which the bonus CD of (blue day) is nowhere near as good as the actual souvlaki album, therefore, I would just get the normal 10-track album (unless you like walls of noise with no real song structure). standout tracks include machine gun, 40 days and altogether, if you're wondering whether to buy this I would have a listen of those songs first as they sum up the album nicely for me.

Shoegaze lover
I bought this album on tape back in '93'getting towards the end of the shoegaze era,and it still has the same impact on me 17yrs later. My Bloody Valentine and Slowdive are definitely my favourite shoegaze bands. Now with the bonus tracks which are heading into a dancier direction it would be interesting to see how there sound might of evolved.Just as a recommendation if u love this kind of music there is a New York band called 'A Place to Bury Strangers'who have released 2 incredible albums.
