Good for scar make up
I bought this to use a make up on stage for a character who had to have a significant scar across the face. I had looked on Youtube at various methods for doing this and rigid collodion looked to be the best bet. Having used it for 6 performances so far I am very pleased with my purchase. The product is very easy to apply (brush included in the lid), you simply paint it onto the skin. As the solvent evaporates the long chain polymers in the product start to contract and they pull the skin. If you are looking to apply this to kids, don't worry - it doesn't hurt or feel uncomfortable whilst it is doing this. If you want more of an effect you can apply a second layer. You then apply makeup over the top of it. It looked so realistic a couple of people I had been in rehearsal with for weeks commented they hadn't noticed my scar before!Having looked at the Youtube videos and read a few hints on using it I would point out the following:1) Yes, there is a solvent which needs to evaporate but ignore the Americans who say apply it by an open window with a fan running. The bloke next to me in the dressing room is a surgeon. He couldn't smell the solvent as I applied the make up and when he saw the product details he had no worries about being near it.2) I applied it from above the temple to the eyebrow and then from the lower lid to the jaw. It works very well on the cheek where the skin is loose. It works OK on the forehead where the skin is less flexible. It worked extremely well on the lower eyelid. (see below) Don't get it on your hair/eyebrows!3) Getting it off can be fun! It says 'peals off easily'. Easily is a comparative term. It does peal/rub off eventually but water will have no effect and acetone (not applied near the eye!) worked but wasn't the best thing for my skin. Getting it off the lower eyelid was very tricky.4) Use a grease removing cleanser before applying. If there is any grease present then the edges will lift. This actually gives you an edge to start pealing from so is useful but is tricky to smooth down with makeup.5) You use very little of it. I bought two bottles to ensure I would not run out mid=way through the show. 6 performances in I cannot see a level difference between the bottle I am using and the spare.A good product that does what it says.

Works as described
Good stuff for making realistic scars. Would be amazing if you put makeup over the top. My daughter wasn't fussed with makeup as they looked real enough just with the liquid. Only fault i would give this is it doesn't last as long as you think it will. You use a fair bit while doing scars.

Fantastic Product
This is a fantastic product. I looked at some of the videos for using this on youtube and after a few trials, I found to make a old looking scar, all you have to do is paint it on, the brush which comes with it, is perfectly fine to use, so no need to buy another, I was able to do from little scars to big scars with it. It does take a little practice but once you have the hang of it, you will love the stuff. There was one down side but it makes sense to know it (so read the instructions). When the Collodion has dried and you have finished what it is you are doing (Play, performance etc), when removing the dried Collodion, wash your face and take care to remove it, I also used baby wipes and this helped. It helps to moisten the dried collodion as if you try to remove it without moistening it, it can damage the skin it is attached. even if you moisten it and yo will find this with all Collodion, that you will have what appears to be a mark when it has been painted on the skin for a couple of hours, this is natural as when it is removed there is a layer or two (nothing to worry about) of skin which will come off at the same time, this will disappear :)I will also add, like with any Collodion, that you should NEVER apply to the same spot over and over again once the Collodion has been removed as it will continue to remove layers of skin as you repeatedly take it off and that in itself can cause scaring. Can have a slight smell but nothing pungent, can make your eyes water if you use it to close to the eyes and shouldn't be used on soft skin areas like around the eyes (below the eyes). So overall a fantastic product, which I am very happy with and will buy again. Has excellent outcomes if used correctly.

Only problem is you don't get much in a bottle and it's easy to use it all up quickly
Works perfectly and looks real.Only problem is you don't get much in a bottle and it's easy to use it all up quickly, which makes it kinda pricey for a student (i.e. me), but I can see how this would be popular within the theatre industry!I've done a very small tester for this review. I bought the product to be used for a scar on my face for a cosplay so I recreated it a bit on my wrist. This is not JUST the collodion. To make it red, I simply drew out the scar in a reddish lip liner, then added a tiny bit of brown from an eyebrow pencil. I then applied the collodion with about 10 strokes over and around the lip liner. Then I smudged some red lipstick on the top very lightly. I'm not making this a tutorial, but if you want a bloody scar effect then collodion can make it look so realistic (my friends thought this was real haha). The collodion doesn't aggravate the skin at all I have found, and I do have very sensitive skin.To get it off, you can just peel it off (rips some of your hairs out) or you can scrub it off with hot soapy water.Anyway, I love this product and will buy over and over if I need any more :)
