Q: Will this work on the wsm 18.5 with the rectangular opening rather than the rounded one? i have the older model.

I'm pretty sure it will. I would check with Lavalock to be sure. I really like mine, works great. It's heavy, makes a good lifting point when removing barrel from base.

Classic Accessories has a nice cover.55-038-042401 I put wheels on my WSM 18.5 so it's about 6" taller. Still may work for you.
