Q: Will the lights "remember" the last mode they were set to after they are turned off and on again or will I need to manually reset them each time?

If they are turned off with the timer or remote, they will "remember" the last mode they were in. If the outlet they are plugged into has a switch and the switch is turned off (de-powering the control box), next time it comes on, it will be in Mode 1 again and not remember the previous setting. I found this because I put a light sensor switch before the lights (so they would turn on when it got dark), but the "off-mode" of this switch de-powers the control box, so they always come back on in Mode 1. Instead of using the light sensor switch, I'm now using the built in timer.

Q: Can I plug one string into the end of another one?

I don't understand how you plus one string into another. Mine only have one end with plug but not an end to receive a plug so how would you connect them?

Warm white, not the bright neon white.

Q: Can I use an automatic timer to turn these on and off each night?

If you are installing these outside, you may want to consider https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LGJ5765?ref=myi_title_dp. Those guys hook up directly into your outdoor landscape lighting system. You won't need the non-waterproof adapter (or any 120V power outlet or long ugly power cords or power splitters) or any extra timers to turn them on/off. It just magically works your existing landscape lighting system. Minimal fuss!!
