No, it's in a black bag with a cardboard box wrapped outside

There is no dowel holding it.the sword is held and protected by the sheets that the sword is placed in.

Q: Does it come with a stand?

No, mine did not come with a stand. It came with a cloth bag though, not very useful for display purposes.
