Q: I need these for face painting, how long are the handles?

The wooden part of the handle is five inches. The entire length of the paint brushes is about seven inches.

Q: Are the bristles stiff?

In my opinion they are not stiff. I consider stiff to have little movement. The synthetic bristles are firm enough to hold shape and yet soft enough for great control. I hope this is helpful.
