Q: Do they lock together or do you have to screw in each one?

They are designed with slots to align and connect them, but each one has two screw holes and MUST be screwed in. This is necessary to support the weight of the battery and the movement of sliding the battery in and and out for use/storage. I have greatly enjoyed this set up. It has kept my batteries neat, safe and highly accessible
