I need blue ink. What is the refill size, brand, part number etc.?

Any ink cartridge advertized as "Parker-style" will work.

It uses regular ballpoint pen ink that is not water soluble.

Can purple and/or orange ink refills be purchased for these?

Yes, but not from Thixotropic. The pen accept Parker-style refills. These are made my many different manufacturer's and come in a variety of colors.

Why is heavy good? I like fat pens but weight seems irrelevant.

This pen is meant to be helpful to people who have hand tremors. The weight helps steady the pen. However the weight inside this pen rattles around and it's not the least bit useful.
