Q: Hi could someone confirm that this is the actual pillow and not just a slip-case? And does it come in the original packaging? I need it for a gift

It was the pillow along with whatever case you pick out. It came in original packaging. I bought this as a gift and she loves it.

Q: Can you remove the animal print slip cover and replace it with a different Boppy Slip Cover?

Yes the animal print slip cover is removable. I've taken mine off several times to wash it! Haven't tried a different cover yet, but I'm assuming it would be the same :)

Q: Does this include a waterproof cover? Or is that only sold seperatelyj?

A little late for you Rebecca, but for general info - the fabric/patterned cover that comes with the pillow is *not* waterproof, but is washable. There is a seperate waterproof cover that is worth purchasing that goes under the patterned cover.

Q: Has anyone used this pillow in a crib to help a baby to sleep?

No and I wouldn't either. There has been reports of suffocation with boppys in cribs. My pediatrician had me roll up a towel and put it under the mattress, so the baby did have elevation
