Beautiful axe
Very pleased with the quality of this axe for the price. $99.95 with a 5% coupon…The head is solid, wrapping is secure, decorative relief pattern was nice, and the mask was decent quality. Also came with the belt loop, which was a surprise. Oh, and it came decently sharp too! Much sharper than any of my CRKT or Cold Steel axes/hawks.I inquired about the steel, wood, and head attachment…Their response was 5160 steel, head is secured with wood wedge, ring wedge (see pic) and 24 hr epoxy, shaft is burnt ash. Those responses sold me on the axe. Heat treatment is unknown, but this is patterned more from a combat axe than a wood processing axe. As I’m unlikely to need to use it in combat, I’m sure it’s fine. So for those who aren’t familiar with steel types, 5160 is a high carbon steel that is very tough. It is not stainless and will rust if not properly maintained. Some minor gripes:While the handle is nice and thick, it gets much narrower toward the end opposite the head, so the axe will have a tendency to want to leave your hand. The leather wrap is thin enough to not be obtrusive but adds some traction so that’s good. The leather mask and belt loop are decent enough quality but lacks some finishing on the edges. Fit is good, although the loop for the axe seems to be sized better for the bare handle, not the handle wrapped in leather. Still functional though. The leather “lanyard” is not attached, and promptly broke when I tried to tie a knot. So it’s pretty useless.Packaging was not the best. Nice graphic on the box, but the shipping labels stuck all over it ruins it (collectors like to keep the boxes…don’t ruin it). The axe came wrapped securely in plastic wrap with a good coating of packing grease to protect the steel, and the mask installed over some of the wrap to protect the edge but everything was just loose in the box (no internal packing).Bottom line, if you are a Vikings fan (not the NFL Vikings) and want a nice looking “decorated” axe, it’s definitely worth the $95-100 price. If it’s priced around $150, I think there might be better choices I’m very satisfied.

More form than function
It’s very well buil and very nice looking but wont hold an edge.It will start to become sharp then lose the edge every time. I’ll probably re-grind the cutting edge profile then re heat treat and temper it and see why happens then.

This is for display ONLY
Maybe I got a bad one, otherwise this should be for display ONLY. took two swings to a tree, single handed light force and it broke on second strike.
