My roll was 35 inches tall, 8 feet wide.

Q: How much thatch is needed for roof that is a single 8'x4' surface (sloped down from the eve of the garage) for a sort of a "shack" style structure?

We bought the thatch for an 8’ x 8’ tiki bar roof and we needed three rolls which just about covered it. Hope this answer helps.

It can be cut down because it is cross tied on the back
