Succulent, Cactus and Bonsai Soil - Jacks Gritty Mix - 2 Gallons – Fast Draining – Fight Root Rot – Optimized pH

I ordered this for some Lithops, simply because I'd heard they need "gritty soil". But I continued to take part in some Facebook groups, and looked at other plant needs like carnivorous Pinguicula and this mix fits the bill for multiple other plants. I sometimes make arid themed terrariums (cactus and succulent) inside vases or tanks, and I want them to have REALLY good drainage in those setups, so I'll be using this in every setup like that.

I love this soil and use it more as a mixer for my own soil mixes. I have a few cactus in just JACKS GRITTY MIX but for the most part I and so water retention to this so that I can have a little water stay behind for the roots. everything that is planted in it is thriving.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:Best mix for succulents. This mix absorbs water fast and has great drainage. Doesn’t produce a lot of dust like perlite. This is the only mix I use for my succulents

First time trying Jack’s after using succulent soil that was not well draining. Washed roots of soil, placed in terracotta pots with Jacks’s and it’s been 2 months. I see no growth and when I accidentally bumped a cactus the root system was totally dry. Not what I hoped for. Plants look good but stagnant in South facing window.I’m baffled how this product works to support needs of these plants. New to succulents as well. Am I missing something.

I'm on my second bag -- I'm on a succulent kick with an emphasis on lithops...they adore this mixture. I've added a tiny bit of organic soil to this mixture for my succulents and they are happy and healthy. Water runs right thru this which is what I was expecting and needing. It was a tiny bit dusty but I have nothing bad to say about this brand. I will not hesitate to purchase this product again.

Received in excellent condition; packaged in heavy duty plastic bags and shipped in strong cardboard boxes. Best product we've used for growing succulents and cacti.
