What is plasma wave air cleaning technology?

PlasmaWave® Technology safely breaks apart odors, allergens, chemical vapors, and other pollutants at the molecular level, without causing harmful ozone. How it works: Positive and negative ions combine with natural water vapor to form hydroxyls, which cleans the indoor air. What exactly is Hydroxyls ?

I own an AM90, it's wonderful, works extremely well. As for Plasmawave Technology, yes read CDC and Osha documents if you must. Plasmawave Technology produces hydroxyl ions from moisture in the air, down to about 5% humidity. Has nothing to do with production of or use of Ozone. Hydroxyls are natural and found in our atmosphere too, and are considered to be much safer, and highly more reactive to pollutants in the air thus removing them very fast. The technology is also used quite safely in restoration services during and after disasters.

My Winix with Plasmawave is brand new, but blue light turns red randomly and it goes from lowest to second highest setting. Is that normal?

Yes it is. I has detected a change in the air quality and it is working to address it. When my winix detects chemicals being sprayed in the air it turns red and goes to the highest setting as well.

can you please tell me very simply which side of the filter is on the bottom of the unit? Is the solid part nearest the floor?

The Solid part of the filter will be close to the floor. The air is pulled in from the lower sides of the unit and sent through the top. If the solid side of the filter was on top nearest the fan the air would be blocked and not able to filter.
