There are times that I have bad allergies. An allergist (doctor) put me onto Mucinex (more precisely, guaifenesin, the active ingredient). For me, it helps loosen the "gnarly stuff" so I can expel it, which in turn prevents build-up from causing more severe symptoms or even infection.Mucinex is my go-to for OTC variant of the drug, because they maintain known quality standards. It's the company's "flagship" for the guaifenesin drug group. This particular label is the Maximum Strength with Extended Release.I want to make clear what Mucinex is not. This is NOT intended as a cough suppressant, a replacement for asthma medicine, nor one of the "fix all symptoms" flu reliefs. It can help alleviate some of the chest congestion of a flu, and it might help prevent secondary infections. (Ask your medical provider if that's best for you--or your mom. :) )Note: This specific product has no decongestant. You can buy two other forms of Mucinex with decongestants, usually packaged with DM on the label in the US.

These definitely have a grainy/chalky taste that is just awful but they do the job for sure. I take one every 12 hours and it keeps my symptoms at bay. Like these are gross if you let it stay in your mouth for long (if you have a hard time swallowing pills don’t get these) but they work wonders!

Exact same thing as at CVS but much cheaper.

i dont know what im alergic to but im randomly coughing up phlem.. this knocked it out by the next day
