Is it normal for soyhulls to smell horrible (sour kinda) once hydrated and expanded with boiling water? thanks

Def normal for them to expand. I always mix mine with wood pellets so I haven't noticed the specific soy smell but that combo normally smells somewhat like mulch which can be aggressive.
