Second time I have purchased. The majority are whole stars and smell heavenly! I use them as an ingredient for simmering potpouri or add them as an accent on craft projects. Purchasing them in this bulk quantity is the most economical I have found.

these have shikimic acid in them. it's what is needed to use if one has a flu of any type, particularly the most recent type. so do fennel seeds. i made a tincture, filled a quart jar with half of these and covered it with 100% vodka. shake once a day for a week, then put in dark cupboard for 3 months, shaking infrequently. decant into bottles with droppers.these are fragrant and seemed fresh.

I used these for my holiday simmer posts that I give out to friends and family. I would recommend this product and I will purchase it again in the future. The only negative about this product was that several of the stars were broken. Which is understandable in shipping. So if you are wanting the entire package to be whole stars, you wont get that. I didn't mind the broken ones because they were going into a pot of water to simmer. The quality and smell were great, they were very strong and sturdy.

I was a bit disappointed with these because they were mostly in pieces. I was using them to make tree ornaments and was hoping for whole ones. If you plan to craft with these, look elsewhere. Otherwise, they are fine.

I bought this two years ago and didn’t open until three days ago right on the expiration date Smelled great & they were whole. I ground them down & used them to make a tea with fennel seed that knocked out MY upper respiratory infection in three days. Great product.

These were ordered for my parrots. When I opened the package they smelled like no other Star Anise I've ever purchased. These have a funky smell, not the usual black licorice smell of all I've ever ordered. Additionally, when I try to break off individual pods they just flex and bend as opposed to the typical dry snap of all Star Anise I've ever handed. I won't risk giving these to my birds.
