Yes it does. I use it for all types. Loose leaf, bags and fine teas

Yes it came packaged in a easy to wrap box with padding inside.

Will it work with a travel mug?

I tested with water in my travel mug and it worked. I had to place it carefully because my mug is narrow. I picked it up a couple times the first time to make sure it didn't overflow.
