Is there something added to this gel that would make it work better than a plain nasal gel like ayr? Thanks.

As someone who has used ayr for a long time, this works much better. It has a thicker consistency that stays put. Ayr for me drips everywhere and makes a mess. Plus i travel a lot and helps with dryness under your mask!

There are no special ingredients in this-Use Vaseline (less pricey) gel would do the exact same thing. The gel is what traps the pollen, etc.

Does it block 2nd hand smoke?

I’m going with no. It might help reduce some irritation as it would grab onto bigger particles, but it doesn’t fully block anything. I would suggest nasal filters - and if you get the cleanable/reusable kind, nasal guard combined.

If wearing make up, does this go under the foundation or top of foundation?

I put mine on top.it's clear therefore not visible.I think you would block the efficacy putting it under foundation
