Helpful tool to have and easy to use.
This is a great battery tester to have on hand. It does seem to be accurate on the three batteries I have tried this on. My dealership said I needed a new battery, so I ended up buying this to test the battery. By the time I received this, my battery tested 62% and was "Normal". I was skeptical about both the dealership test and this product. (Dealer said fail, and this tester said pass) so I kept testing my battery. Two days later the device reported 59% and went from "Normal" to "Replace". After that, the battery kept failing with this battery tester, which then assured me that the battery did fail at the dealer, and was going to begin failing at some point. I ended up replacing the battery myself, and included pics of the sequence of screens you will go through to test the battery. It is very straightforward. Only two things you need to know are the type of battery you have, and the cold cranking amps (CCA). All the information is usually on the battery label itself. In my case I tested the new 700 CCA battery, and from the old one reporting 59%, the brand new one reports 100% @ 766 CCA. I feel this is a good tool to have on hand as well to ensure that the new battery you received is healthy. I also included a pic of a different battery in a different car with 750 CCA which reports at 67% @ 615 CCA. The "Replace" percentage on this device is 60%. The tests complete quickly. The battery test will show SOH (State of Health) and SOC (State of Charge) It comes with a pretty comprehensive instruction booklet that touches on all the features. I did try the other features to mess around with the device. They are also straightforward. The Charging Test seems helpful to check the charging state of the alternator, and provides more information than a multimeter. The only thing I would say is that even though the clamps and cables feel high quality, the clamps are a little small. It may also take a bit of trial and error to set up the clamps correctly. It will warn of a "Clips Error!!!" if something is not right. However in one of my cars I know the battery is ok (Tested either 30% or 67%). The smaller clamps I can see being a benefit for some cars, but a disadvantage for others. If in doubt, remove battery terminals and test straight to the battery. One thing about this tester is that if you are looking to use it to load test, you may need a helper. You will connect this to the battery, turn on all your accessories and have someone rev the car to ~2500 RPM. The tester itself will not put a load on the battery, and the cables are nowhere nearly long enough to sit in the car to rev it up and control the tester. Overall I trust this product, and am happy with it.

Great tool for testing batteries and charging systems
This is a battery, starting, and charging analyzer. I used this to check the battery in my motorcycle, truck, and a couple cars. The battery tester will show the voltage, state of charge, and the overall life left. The startup test shows how low the battery voltage drops while the starter is being turned over. The charging test is good for finding out weather or not the alternator or regulator is working properly. There is also a multi-meter function which is good for viewing live data of the battery and charging system. This is a great device to have around. I liked the ease of use and functionality. The only thing that I didn't like was the beep that is turned on by default. Every time a button was pushed it would beep. Fortunately it can be turned off in the settings.

Great little battery tester but clamps to small for terminals
Great little battery tester and works as advertised. Only gripe are the terminals as they are really cheap and small. They couldn’t get across the battery terminal with the cables attached on them.

Works as well as the expensive brands.
Bought this as a backup for the one we use in the shop. That one cost almost $400 so I thought there was no way this one would be as accurate. Tested this side by side and was surprised that the CCAs found in the batteries was within 10% of the expensive one every time. This one doesn't have a print function but the other functions are nice. The graphing screen shows vehicle voltage over time so you can see ignition, starting, and engine running voltages.Other than the screen being a little small, it a great tool for battery diagnostics.

Functions as described, useful and convenient to use
The media could not be loaded. I bought a Romondes BT200 battery tester that did not power on right out of the box, I posted a reivew of this w/ video at Amazon. I ordered this BM580 instead as soon as I found out about it.I've added pictures that show a bad battery out of the vehicle that has good battery voltage, noco battery maintainer/charger LED red status just means it is charging, green means battery is healthy/fully charged which is not showing in picture. This has features I did not expect from a battery tester(e.g. battery multimeter, load test, ripple test), see product description for more.I like the screen 2.4", alligagor clamps seems stable when connected(stays better compared to my Noco clamps, see pictures), voltage record and replay and screen capture(will be helpful to compare after I charged the battery). One thing I don't like is the manual, prints are tiny but you can search for it online. So far highly recommended and wound probably get more for the right price for a gift as most of my friends and some family members had issues w/ batteries during pandemic lockdown(cars not driven or started for awhile). I was asked many times how to check if battery is still good(advised them using the old-fashioned, voltmeter ...). Having this tool is more convenient for me and for them.

Worked ok when I got it, just over a year later its dead
Used it three times since buying in Feb 2024. It is dead and display will not work on a bad or a known good battery. Recommend not buying this brand. It may work a few times but then its just useless and nothing you can do about it

Lasted 6 months of everyday use
I’ve been using this battery tester daily for 6 months and all of the sudden every battery i test now says less than 100 cca. I tested a brand new battery and says the same thing.

clear and precise
I recently got my hands on the Kingbolen Car Battery Tester BM580, and it's been a real asset. The digital screen is crystal clear, making it easy to interpret the results no matter where I'm working. Just last week, I used it on a customer's car that was having trouble starting. The BM580 quickly identified a weak battery, and after a replacement, the car was back to running smoothly. It's become an essential tool in my toolkit, saving me time and hassle."
