Q: Any tips on removing original adhesive from the part? Wouldn't stay on the tile and wanted to try again but hairdryer can't get it off the metal.

Try rubbing alcohol and a dry paper towel. Its funny because I hung 2 hooks, one held fast and the other i had to redo. Stuck it in place and left it alone for a week before using. So far so good.
