A great compilation. The very best of the Doors and then some..
The Very Best of the Doors is a great compilation. I am glad I went for the Import version. The bonus songs on the Import version just add to an already strong collection. The sound is definitely enhanced by the remastered original multitrack recordings, giving greater depth to the songs. There are many best of compilations and box sets available covering the Doors legacy. However, this set is better than most. This set is a must for adoring fans and a great starting point for new ones.

CONFUSION WHEN WE SELECT THE DISC
THE WEB PAGE WHERE THE DISC APPEARS HAS ALSO SOME INFORMATION REGARDING THREE CD'S WHICH CONFUSED ME WHEN I ORDER THE CD. IN ONE PART OF THE AMAZON WEB PAGE APPEARS THAT IS ONLY ONE CD AND IN THE SAME PAGE APPEARS THREE CD'S: GREAT CONFUSION AT THE MOMENT OF THE SELECTION OR WHEN WE ORDER. AMAZON REMOVE THE DESCRIPTION OF THOSE THREE CD'S THAT ONLY CONFUSE TO ALL OF US. THE CD IS EXCELLENT. THE SELLER ALSO IS EXCELLENT. BUT THE WEB PAGE TO SELECT OR WHERE WE SEE THE DETAILS IS A MESS.

Great Starting Place
Great Collection on this import version. Fantastic sound. Bird of Prey is a bit of a throw-away in my humble opinion but the rest is SO good that I went out and purchased the entire Doors catalogue within 2 weeks of owning this. Texas Radio and the Big Beat never sounded so BIG. Wonderful.

Misleading Description
One reason I purchased the import version of this album was that in the description it states "plus the unedited version of "The End". This statement is not correct. The version of "The End" included on the import CD is NOT the unedited version. The end result was paying a $10 premium to no purpose.

Capturing the Groove again!!
It's the Doors, what can I say. The Morrison mystique lives on. The music captures a time when things were shaken-up and changed...when war shattered this country and "This is the End" was a metaphor for Vietnam and a post World War II Norman Rockwell fairy tale. Say what you will about Morrison's personal life, his music, that of the Doors, has always resonated with me.

夏になると無性にドアーズが聞きたくなるので買ったのだが・・・
THE ENDが地獄の黙示録ヴァージョンになっていてヘリの音で始まり途中でフェイドアウトする。ベスト版だからお得っちゃお得だけど、プロパーなTHE ENDをじっくり聞きたいと思って買ったのにこれじゃストレスがたまる。普通のTHE ENDちゃんと収録して、黙示録版はボーナストラックで入れてほしかった。というか、いらないし。どちらにしろ入れるなら黙示録ヴァージョンであるとちゃんと表記すべきだと思う。何と言ったってウリなんだから。…それにしてもなんでこんなことしちゃうんだろう。

Definitive Doors Compilation?
I have at one time and another possessed several Doors compilations and feel that "The Very Best Of The Doors" is the strongest of them all. The selection of tracks is very good - the usual greats 'Light My Fire' and 'Riders On The Storm'. First rate covers 'Back Door Man' and 'Alabama Song'. Also other excellent and somewhat lesser known songs such as 'Peace Frog', 'Love Street' and the sublime 'The Crystal Ship' are included.The version of 'The End' is the abridged one from the film 'Apocalypse Now'. I notice from other reviews that some objected to this, but i found it interesting to have a different take on this well known epic.For me the finest single disc compilation of this remarkable band.
