About 15 minutes max. And do not recharge it while the battery is hot.

Is this trimmer very heavy...I am 5 ft. tall and cannot handle trimmers that are for people who are taller, and if it is overly heavy.

The length of the trimmer is adjustable and is not heavy.

Does this come with line string to start you off or do you need to purchase this separately?

It comes with minimal string - I'd say maybe 3 ft. on the spool. There's a pack of three on Amazon - a generic brand - for @$10. Just get those when you order.

Does the LST300 come with batery and charger?

yes it does come with both...handy little tool, light weight & does a great job. the batteries don't last long, but my fence row has grown tremendously because my other died, but still great tool. takes app. 4 hrs to completely recharge. I also boutght an extra charger + battery. helps a lot.
