Q: what kind of wood are these made from? pine? birch? thanks

I do not know, but they are awful. Mine came already warped, so very thin, I painted one and the wood bubbled. Honestly, I wish I could give a good review, but these are terrible and a waste of money.

Q: Can this be used on the Cricut maker for craft projects?

I am not a Cricut expert but here's my thoughts...You can use the wood discs for vinyl you have cut from Cricut, but I'm pretty sure it can't be cut ON the Cricut, it too thick.

Q: Can you stain these wood rounds?

I just got a pack of these and in all honesty have only used 1 so far. But I stained it with a 50/50 mix of brown acrylic paint and water and no warping or buckling what so ever. And it's been a week and all rounds are still in great condition.

Q: Can you sublimate on these?

Honestly I don't know.... however I have used heat press vinyl and it has worked fine. I do prefer to use permanent vinyl, but sometimes I will use the heat press.
