Tsurumi Pond Pump
Pump is easy to install, quiet operating and powerful. A bit more costly than other pumps but well worth the money.

Exact Replacement and Fast Delivery
I replaced this pump back in 2020 and was disappointed that it didn't last a lot longer. I believe the short life of the last pump was partially my own fault due to the fact that the lid over the pump pit had gotten severely plugged up with leaves and maple seeds last season. I started seeing bubbles at the top of the feature and suspect the pump was sucking air from somewhere. We all know that the biggest enemy of a water pump is air!Going forward I'll be a lot more vigilant in keeping up on maintenance.

high volume pump
very well build pump. with 2 inch discharge. most pumps have 1 1/2" discharge. This provides a large volume of water for waterfall . Be mindful that replacement capacitors are significantly more expensive than other submersible pump capacitors.

Short cord
If you are like me buying to replace an older one. Know that the electrical cord is noticeably shorter. Now I gotta figure out out how to re-route my cord.

Doesn't last long
I installed this in 2023 and it only lasted about a year. Now it just buzzes and the impeller doesn't spin. Nothing is blocking it just failed for no reason.

Treat it Right
This is my fourth 50PN2.4S submersible pump in 10.5 years for a pond/waterfall. The first one lasted 8.5 years, the second lasted about one year (replaced under warranty) and the third less than a year. Tsurumi rep stopped by (after the second one failed) to see the setup and said it was perfect. I did notice the pump running dry and temporarily shutting down, so I am assuming this eventually resulted in the failure. Both of the last two pumps started having a whining sound and then tripped the GFI. Pumps have been great and pump plenty of water for the happy fish, but make sure you take care of them.

Tsurumi 4PN
If you are installing or refitting a water feature (waterfall) in your yard you should not skimp on the pump. These are very well made. If properly maintained they should last for many years. Spare parts are available as of 2020, even for 20 year old pumps. The newer model (this one) skimps a little on the base assembly and strainer but its the same motor and pump and works great

Bearings fail after 3 yrs
I bought this PN-4 to replace a prior PN-8 pump whose bearing started squealing after 3 years. In a small, clean pond, running 8mos a year, this PN-4 lasted 3 seasons before one of its bearings started squealing, too. I paid $530 in Oct 2020, and a replacement PN-4 is now $687 in Apr 2024. The PN-8 is now $771.Tsurumi supposedly has a strong reputation, but that's too much $ for just a 3 year life. The warranty? 2 yrs.
