Q: Are the bookends really nonskid? I've got a row of heavy cookbooks that sit on a slick shelf on a baker's rack and they slide every time I remove one.

My daughter-in-law uses them to hold several heavy textbooks on a shelf. The bookends hold and do not slide. She is pleased with them.

Don't know exact weight, but in comparison.. I'd say it feels about 7-10oz... Comparison of maybe a canned vegetable. Decent weight.

I don't know however, it is a bit sturdy. Sturdier than the two other sets I bought. I would purchase more of these. They support the books I have. I would recommend these.
