When I first opened the package, there was a strange smell, possibly from the factory or the cardboard. The towels were sealed in a plastic bag with cardboard squares used to hold their shape. I also noticed colored lint from different threads, which seemed to be from other towels in the factory. Out of the 12 towels, 2 were misshapen and not cut to size, so I marked them with a small X on the tag with a ballpoint pen. At first, they seemed thin and low-quality, and I planned to use them as basic kitchen towels.After washing them right out of the packaging in warm water (instead of the cold water as the tag recommended), I was surprised by how they improved. The towels became thicker, the weave tightened, and they shrunk by about half an inch, which enhanced their quality. Even air-drying didn’t change their improved appearance and feel.Now, they look and feel like much higher-quality towels. I plan to iron them and use them as dinner napkins, while the other misshapen towels will be great for drying hands or dishes. They don’t leave any lint and absorb well. My initial 2-star rating has jumped to 5 stars after giving these towels a chance! Yay!

Great towels - nice weight - wash well. Expect a long towel life doing kitchen duty. Very pleased with quality - would buy again.

My family has kind of joked with me over my kitchen towel collection throughout the years that go with every season, etc. I have had fun with that but I have to say since I got this stack of kitchen towels, that's the only thing I use now. I have them by the sink and by the stove. I use them for drying my hands and also hand drying dishes. The main purpose that I absolutely love them for is drying my stainless steel that I hand wash. They are absolutely perfect for that! I am extremely pleased with the purchase of the towels. They have a great feel to them with a nice cotton content, they look very nice with the colored stripe down the middle. I love that they have a great streak resistance when you are hand drying your stainless steel. I have even used them as dinner napkins and they looked beautiful folded in an envelope style with the silverware sitting in them They have also laundered very well.

-Prolonged Use & UPDATE-We’ve been using these in both the vacation rental & our home kitchen for the past year. While I wasn't initially thrilled with the quality the high reviews implied I’d receive I must say these towels get an A+ from me after the constant abuse they have taken & how well they’ve held up! compared to the high reviews I have to say they have They are a great 100% cotton bar mop towel and I’ll continue to buy!-I’ve only lost a few towels to the cleaning closet that couldnt be bleached clean.-The blue stripe has faded to more of a french blue but bleaching hasn't caused any spotting (the weft threads show thru white). So other than some color fade they’ve held up VERY well!-My FAVORITE PART= They still don't wrinkle any more than they did when I posted my first review!! When removed from the dryer right away & folded there is minimal to no wrinkles! Some of the edges turn under... but the IKEA towels become a wrinkly mess.-The sides still line up & lay straight with very minimal seam twist! This is always an issue with 100% cotton bar towels so I’m VERY impressed that the herringbone weave seems to prevent this issue!-The size is now 23” Long x 15” Wide...*I’ll upload new pics laid out on a cutting mat so u can see how the stripe, seams, and overall apperance have held up! *——ORIGINAL REVIEW ——Not as high quality as I assumed they would be with all the 5 star reviews. I'll probably stick with the .79 cent IKEA dish towels from now on since they wash up super soft & absorbent and are thicker than these. I will add some photos with measurements taken before and after the wash/dry.Cons:-They are rather thin-- you can see the tag and hanging loop through the front without trying.-They shrink up quiet a bit, loosing about 4" off the length after washing & drying on med/high heat, wool dryer balls, and with auto damp sensor shutoff-The ends do wrinkle up which may bother some people who like flat dishtowels (not a problem for us) & could be ironed out if your that type of person.Pros:-The sides don't shrink up as much as I thought they would which means the weft is well woven and these should hold up for some time-They don't get nearly as wrinkly as the IKEA dishtowels- they actually stay quite flat after wash/dry-They are definitely made of 100% cotton, not a mixture like some others found on Amazon-They are made in India, not China.-I love the single blue ticking stripe down the middle (personal preference).-They arrived packaged well and were all clean white with no stains or marks to pre-treat prior to washing.
