Q: How tall is this seat?

Unfolded (open). the seat is 18 inches from the ground. Folded, it measures 24 inches in length -- too long to fit into my carry-on luggage, even diagonally. I did use it as a carry-on just by itself; that was no problem.

Q: Will this work on the sand at the beach when I need to rest while walking? Hard packed sand? Thanks

It would work on hard packed sand. Used in an archeological dig on vacation. It was very useful.

Q: Will this chair pass TSA inspection at airport as a carry on or in luggage?

I have brought this item in both my carry on and strapped to my backpack numerous times on flights (somewhere in the range of 30+ airports) and have never had it be an issue.
