Dimensions of the 1 oz packet before it is opened?

It's about the size of a candy bar--about 4"x1"x1/2".

I opened up four of the packets and it basically tears apart and is not moist at all! Did I get a bad batch or is this how it is?

It does tear up, but you should be able to work it into a soft ball. It shouldn’t be dry, but it isn’t “claylike” moist.

Will it take & keep impressions of textures like fingerprints, forks, leaves & other objects?

Yes...ish. It does a pretty good job unless you are doing something very detailed. Probably wouldn’t capture a fingerprint or a leave but would a fork.
